
RAQUINEL WINS BY DQ IN SIQUIJOR

LAZI, SIQUIJOR ? Rajah Jay-R Raquinel was the recipient was repeated hard low blows for three rounds prompting Referee Ben Necesario to disqualify Jimboy Haya in the main event of the Lazi Fiesta Boxing Extravaganza Sunday night.
Raquinel, who represents the Princesa Bulakna Resort of Maria,Siquijor, engaged Haya in a probing and feinting opening round until the action was interrupted by Haya?s punch that landed below the belt.
In the second, the fighters began to open up but low blows from Haya decked Raquinel, who was once again given five minutes to recover. Haya, who fights out of the Omega Gym of Cebu, was deducted a point. Furious give and take action took place when the fight resumed. The southpaw Raquinel landed his best punch, a counter left straight, which drew cheers from the sell-out crowd.
In the third, Raquinel was once again sent down by low blows prompting the referee to halt proceedings and award Raquinel the win. Time ? 1:15.
Raquinel remains unbeaten in nine bouts, Haya drops to his second loss in ten bouts.
Marjun Pantilgan of Big Yellow knocked out Rajah Jetro Tulod of Siquijor in 2:33 of the first round with a wicked body shot.
Filjun Taneo of the Omega Gym knocked down Salvador Crispin of Dumaguete in the opening round with uppercuts to the body. Crispin got up but another uppercut to the midsection sent him down for good. Referee Ben Necesario reached the ten count at the 2:14 mark.
Top unbeaten prospects Jhack Tepora and Jerry Castroverde also entertained the fans with a four round exhibition sparring session. In between bouts, the dancers of the Princesa Bulakna Resort of Candaping B, Maria, Siquijor, were part of the evening festivities. The event was opened by amateur contest which was Dumaguete City boxers dominating their counterparts from Siquijor.
This boxing event held at the Lazi Municipal Gym with the pro bouts supervised by Rolando Mendoza and Glenn Agena of GAB-Cebu and promoted by Dr. Edgardo Apolinar of Rajah Silapulapu Promotions.
