THE BOTTOM LINE ISSUE IN ?MAY-PAC? IS REVEALING

Roots are found in roots.

Mayweather and his co-promoters, with the support of blind media, had proudly installed money (for the love of it) being the god of the upcoming ?Super Fight.? Would you then be willing to bow to a false deity this Saturday (Sunday, Manila time) and be under ?spell? by watching it live at the MGM Grand or via PPV in your own living room?

?Money isn?t everything, it?s the only thing.? ? Floyd ?Money? Mayweather

A boxing aficionado asked this free writer yesterday: ?It?s odd Reni. Perhaps nobody had believed and fought effectively as you did to make the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao materialize using the power of media. But why suddenly are you boycotting the fight?? I replied, ?Key players responsible for its production have messed up all about the matchup - due to greed, ignorance and abuses. The reasons are compelling and the argument is enormous. There are volumes that can be said, but suffice it to say you only need to read my previous articles to understand why.?
?There is a way that seems right unto a man??

An online survey currently being done by different websites reveal that a great majority of fans and people are not inclined to buy PPV. Fightsaga.com, for example, has it so far 72% saying No against 28% Yes to the question: ?Will you pay the 99$ to watch Mayweather vs. Pacquiao?

The normal are aware that this so called ?richest fight? is not for the fans and people. And the producers are clear about it. ?May-Pac? is for the wealthy 1%, but the truly wealthy are not flattered and they are not hooked anyway, the reason being they are among the sectors included in the growing protest of May 2 sham.

At the heart of this ?historic hoopla? is anything but sane and good.

Top Rank?s Bob Arum, when asked by CNN regarding the high cost of tickets and their re-sell on secondary market Stub-hub, had this to say: ?The 1% have so much money that they don?t know how to spend it. Whether its yachts, paintings or tickets to a fight, the money means nothing to them. We?ve never seen anything like this in all of boxing, and I don?t think, for any sporting event.?

The pound-for-pound lord is said to be the main operator of the event.

Oliver Brown, chief sports writer for The Telegraph UK (4/22/15), wrote: ?The lionization of Floyd Mayweather can make for a strange and tawdry spectacle. He is venerated by his disciples? Ultimately, one can only conclude that he is given a free pass so often because his apologists are rabbits in the dazzling headlights of a power gleaned purely from money. ?Money isn?t everything ? it?s the only thing,? he said.? In his latest piece (5/1/15), Brown bannered: ?BOXING HAS LOST ITSELF TO MONEY MEN IN THE WILD WEST.?

IT?S A BLESSING TO HAVE MONEY, BUT IT?S HELL TO LOVE IT. Hence evils thrive in societies because the ?love of money? is the favorite game countless greedy play. ?The love of money is the root of all evil.? ? I Timothy 6:10.

Columnist Olly Campbell of East Side Boxing (4/24/15) complained, ?It?s sad to think that many of those in the (MGM) crowd will simply be rich, powerful and/or famous, while at the same time not being real boxing fans? for an event as big and historical as this, the bad taste it leaves is all the more bitter.?

My prayer, respect and support for Manny Pacquiao, as a boxer, compatriot and brother in Christ, remains. But I must enjoin the world: You may watch ?May-Pac,? but buy it not.

The bottom line has been laid bare.

And it?s a test of character for you.

Be sweet.
