MANILA ? Filipinos have always disagreed amongst themselves even on trivial matters. But on days when Manny Pacquiao fights, for just a few hours rebels and government soldiers stop killing each other, crime rate drops to zero and we proudly proclaim to the world that we are one nation.

So it is quite fitting that his fight against Floyd Mayweather has united four major networks in the Philippines for one mega-coverage leading up to the May 2 (May 3 in the Philippines) superfight in Las Vegas.

GMA 7, TV 5, ABS-CBN and Solar Sports have joined forces together with SM Cinemas, PLDT, Smart, and Cignal in the coverage and airing of the biggest fight of this century. The chief executives of these networks made their official announcement today in a press conference held at the Solaire Resort and Casino.

Their goal is to reach the more than 100 million Filipinos who are expected to be glued on fight day watching this fight on television, movie houses, sports arenas or on the internet on their mobile devices or listening to the radio, depending on their location in the country. The event will be seen on free TV on the said stations, on cable, on pay per view, on DZBB radio, and through the said internet providers.

Pacquiao gave brief but live message of thanks via the internet during the said presscon.

This boxing event is expected to reach the largest audience possible in our country and could establish a viewing record that will stand for decades to come.

NETWORK BOSSES (L-R): SM's Edgar Tejero, GMA7's Mike Enriquez, GMA7's Felipe Yalong, Solar Sports' Wilson Tieng, Cignal TV's Oscar Reyes, TV5's Chot Reyes and ABS-CBN's Dino Laurena.
