As his theme song goes, ?Nais kong makamit ang tagumpay para sa bayan kong sinilangan (One day I?ll fulfill my dreams for my country),? Marvin ?The Marvelous? Sonsona will again fight on May 2 for the Philippines.

The song ?Laban Para sa Bayan? was written and composed by Filipino rap artist Sly Kane and performed by Sly Kane and Jkris, good friends of the former WBO super flyweight champion.

The rap artists are campaigning to let Sonsona fight in the undercard of the much-awaited megafight between Filipino icon Manny Pacquiao and the undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr. in Las Vegas.

Two-time Manager of the Year awardee Al Haymon, Sonsona?s new manager, is yet to announce if the 24-year old Filipino boxer will be in the undercard.

The song tells of the colorful past of Sonsona, revealing that he has been in and out the prison in his younger years as he used to fight to survive in the streets. He is likened to People?s Champ Manny Pacquiao in many ways: both hail from General Santos City, both came from poor families, both bravely face any opponent, and both have strong faith in God.

?The future looks bright for this Fresh Pinoy Fighter, a regular dude but in the ring he?s a thriller. Blow after blow, excitement at every show. Faith in the Lord comes first above all, if you don?t believe the Holy Book for sure you will fall,? says the song.

The song also mentions his Coach June Agrabio and ends with the lines, ?Salamat Panginoon sa binigay mong lakas ng loob at aking kakayahan. Hesu Kristo inaalay ko ito sa Iyo (And I thank the Lord for the strength and courage. Jesus Christ this is all for you).? #
