PINOY PRIDE 29: PAGARA PUMMELS CHAVEZ IN TWO; SERVANIA, VILLANUEVA SCORE LOPSIDED WINS

DAVAO CITY - Jason ?El Ni?o? Pagara sent Cesar ?El Dolar? Chavez down in the opening round with a hard right to the ribs followed by a glancing right to the head. The Mexican got up but was decked again by a series of hooks to the ribs.
Chavez managed to get up and survive the round. In the second, Pagara landed left and right hooks to the jaw sending Chavez down on his knees. Chavez was clutching his face and grimacing in pain when Referee Bruce McTavish ended the carnage at the 1:56 mark. Pagara retains his WBO International jr. welterweight title and the ALA Gym fighter moves up to 35-2, 22KO?s while Chavez drops to 23W-8L, 11KO's.
Genesis ?Azukal? Servania won a lopsided unanimous decision against a retreating Juan Luis ?Perla Negra? Hernandez of Mexico. Servania spent most of the fight trying to corner the survival-conscious Hernandez who told ring announcer Ted Lerner after the fight that he would like to apologize to the fans because the injury on his right wrist in the second round prevented him from engaging Servania.
The scores after twelve rounds ? Edward Ligas ? 118-110,Salven Lagumbay ? 119-109, Arnie Najera ? 117-111. The referee was Atty. Danrex Tapdasan.
Servania remains unbeaten at 26-0,11KO?s and retains the WBO Intercontinental jr.featherweight title. Hernandez goes down to 17-4-1,9KO?s. The WBO fights were supervised by WBO VP for Asia-Pacific Leon Panoncillo.

?King? Arthur Villanueva kept his undefeated record with an excellent boxing performance against the tough former world champion Julio Cesar ?Pingo? Miranda of Mexico in a ten round non-title contest. Villanueva used his sharp jab and footwork effectively in the early
rounds. But Miranda became more aggressive in the third but Villanueva still took the round with accurate head shots. In the subsequent rounds Miranda would take three to four punches just so he could land one of his own.
Villanueva built a wide lead with exact combinations but Miranda remained dangerous when he got in close and landed heavy hooks. The Mexican began to miss widely in the eighth round but he still kept going forward. Villanueva?s finished strong and won by scores of
99-91,98-92 and 98-92.
Villanueva is now 27W-0L,14KO?s while Miranda drops to 38-12-2,29KO?s. Miranda lost his WBO flyweight title to Brian Viloria in 2011 by unanimous decision.

Highly regarded prospect Mark Magsayo (R) stops Sukkasem Kietyongyuth of Thailand in the 5th round.
Mark ?Magnifico? Magsayo stopped Thai Sukkasem Kietyongyuth in the fifth round. Magsayo was rather tense in the opening round and Sukkasem caught him with a few head shots. The Boholano took it well and a Muay Thai takedown in the second woke Magsayo up and he peppered Sukkasem with straights to the head.
In the 5th, a right to the body and head sent the Thai down. He beat the count but an overhand right sent Sukkasem down hard to the canvas again. The referee waived it off at the 2:19 mark. The Thai was in tears indicating that he wanted to fight on but it was the right decision considering that Sukkasem was already receiving a lot of punishment.
Arjan ?Spartan? Canillas knocked out Indonesian Stevi Ongen Ferdinandus in four rounds. Body shots wore down Ferdinandus until Canillas landed his head blows with ease in the 4th. The Indon was
counted out at 2:48.
For the preliminary bouts ? ?Vicious? Vic Saludar won by unanimous decision against Lester John Prongco after 8rounds. (79-73,78-74 and 79-73). Arnold Garde beat Rafael Sueno by 6 round unanimous decision. Sueno was down in round two. The scores ? 58-55,59-54 and 58-55, and Brian ?Buhawi? Lobitania won by TKO in the second round against Armando Yee. Lobitania scored a knockdown in the opening round and Yee still kept receiving punishment in the second. Time -57 seconds.
PINOY PRIDE XXIX: FISTS OF FURY was held Saturday at the USEP Gym of Davao City. Also in attendance was WBO world junior flyweight champion Donnie ?Ahas? Nietes.
