Las Vegas--The World Boxing Organization (WBO) has officially suspended its China zone representative Zhang Tao during the organization's 27th Annual Convention on-going here at the historical Caesar's Palace Hotel and Casino.

WBO president Paco Valcarcel and First Vice-President John Duggan announced the suspension today in front of convention participants while the WBO held its second day of convention with reports from its different regional leaders.

WBO Asia-Pacific Leon Panoncillo, the hard-working executive who also currently holds the Oriental, International and Youth organizations, has been designated by Valcarcel to head the entire China zone for the WBO. Panoncillo, along with Danny Leigh of Australia, has been credited for the meteoric rise of the organization in the Asian region, sanctioning world title and regional title bouts in numbers unheard of in the past.

The WBO annual convention resumes tomorrow with the seminars for judges and referees, as well as the examination to be conducted by the Association of Boxing Commission taking place the whole day.
